Valentine Sunset

I spent much of this week concerned with red and not just because of Valentines. I chose a red called "saffron" for my kitchen cupboards, looked at it next to a beautiful celery green and had it duly mixed. Only problem was that placed next to most any other color, my saffron read: ORANGE. Now I've nothing against orange (other than its poetic failings) but I needed a bit more red in my red. So today I went back to the paint department and ordered up a red called " Bijou."

It's RED.

I love red.

  1. Red, huh? Have you ever seen M. Night Shyamalan's movie The Village? Red is the "bad color"! Better watch out that the monsters in the forest don't come (red draws them)!

  2. Ah, yes, color is a fickle thing, isn't it?

A few years ago my son did a study for his art class of how the eye perceives color and the juxtaposition of colors. Charted out, as he did it, made so much sense, but it wasn't anything I'd ever really seriously considered before.

Now I work on a daily basis with painting color on glass, and the learning curve is a long one!

    Glad you're back.

I've missed you and your menagerie!
